Roxane Gehle Obituary

Roxane Gehle was a dazzling human – she was a devoted, nurturing mother, a gifted musician, a smart, ambitious businesswoman, and a loving, generous wife, daughter, sister, and friend.  Those of us who knew her cherished her and will miss her immensely.  Roxane was born on December 27, 1955 in Mountain, North Dakota and died of cancer in Wayzata, MN on April 24, 2024.  She grew up in a predominantly Icelandic community in North Dakota and embraced her Icelandic heritage. A 1974 graduate of Edinburg High School, Roxane received her B.S. in Music Education from North Dakota State University in 1978.

After several years working in Seattle, she moved to Minneapolis and embarked on a long, successful career as a certified financial planner, earning her CFP designation in 1987.  Roxane loved working with her clients to meet their financial goals and thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with her colleagues in Morgan Stanley’s Wayzata office. It was her great privilege to work together with her sons Lane and Bryce in recent years, and she left confident that her clients will continue to be well served under their direction going forward.

Roxane married Gil Gehle in 1983 after meeting him in Seattle when they both worked at Boeing. The marriage produced her three beautiful, talented sons: Kevin (Megan), Lane (Joelle), and Bryce, and four precious grandchildren: Hazel, Jett, Henry, and Kit, all under the age of 3 and all of whom have been such a source of joy in the recent weeks and months.  In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her mother Rosa Thorfinnson of Grand Forks, ND, her siblings Barry (Sue Ellen) of Post Falls, ID, Loretta (Wayne) Bernhoft of Mountain, ND, Craig (Margaret) Thorfinnson of Mountain, ND, and Kristjan (Tana) Thorfinnson of Grand Forks, ND, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her father Richard Thorfinnson in 2001.

Roxane was stunningly beautiful, inside and out, and full of life.  When she wasn’t playing the piano, boating on Lake Minnetonka, riding on the local bike paths, or cozying up with a good book, you’d surely find Roxane surrounded by her family and friends. She lived well, she laughed often, and she loved her family fiercely.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, MN. A Celebration of Life to follow at Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, MN.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Roxane’s name.
